Capturing Your Memories and Turning Your Moments Into Art
I can't believe that I've waiting this long to share Katie's Beautiful You! session on the blog! Granted, I got Katie's album up for viewing fairly quickly and she and I have been working on creating her some amazing photo products from that session, but, still a blog post is such a great way to feature the session photos!
Katie and I have been talking about and planning her session since February when I shot her best friend, Erin's, session. That said, we knew that we needed to wait until it was warmer because doing water shots entered the discussion pretty quickly! Of course then came the discussion about where to do the session. I still LOVE the idea of doing a session at some point at one of the waterfalls near where I live, but it just was not a good fit for Katie's session where we wanted something a little bit more private and intimate. THANK GOODNESS for my husband, who remembered this little spot and told us about it because it was perfect for our needs!
Before we moved to the water, however, we started with a different look. Actually, we ended up with 3 completely and totally different looks between our indoor shots inside a rustic homestead house, outdoor country shots around that property, and then the water shots.
Be sure to check out the album from shots I took around the Stampfli Homestead for more insight into this neat location!
I told Katie going into this session that I anticipated a lot of black and white shots from inside the house (a big shout-out to the caregivers of the property for allowing us access to the inside of the house!) because of the ability to do some really cool things with dramatic lighting. We had some cool shots with more even lighting as well, but I love the final results of the dramatic lighting shots!
Is she not gorgeous?!!!
Got to love the multitude of effects that window lighting offers!
These sessions are so much fun as girl's days out and are a great time to include your best friend as both moral support to help you relax (nothing like sarcastic and teasing comments from the person who knows you the best to remove any insecurities about being in front of the camera, lol!) and to draw them into a few shots!
According to Katie, this is one of her husband's favorite shots ... can't say that I blame him!
More dramatic lighting ... love!
Moving outside .... is this not a cool location for a session?
It was a perfect time of year for the session, too, because the grapevines were in full production.
Having fun among the grapes; and a moment where I caught Katie and Erin just having fun where they thought I was still making some adjustments with my camera settings.
Same basic pose, two very different looks!
What a fun moment between friends as we leave this location and move to the water!
We got to this location just as the day was coming to an end ... which was perfect for creating the moody scene that Katie and I had envisioned!
This is one of my favorite shots with the lighting results and how the editing effects turned out! Doesn't it just look like Katie is floating on top of the water? My oldest daughter saw this photo as I was editing it and went "look mommy, it's a princess!"
Don't ever forget how beautiful you are, Katie! Thank you for allowing me to be part of these moments with you!
